Local Area Attractions

Complementing your California camping experience on our private beach on the Mendocino Coast, are these nearby sightseeing opportunities:

Historic Fort Bragg

Originally established in 1855 as a small military post, Fort Bragg quickly evolved into a thriving shipping port for the redwood lumber and fishing industries. The Guest House Museum (343 N. Main St.) presents a photographic record of this early period of the Mendocino Coast. Nearby is the beautiful and charming shopping and dining district. Fort Bragg is located 17 miles south of the campground.

Noyo Harbor

Located in Fort Bragg, this charming fishing village not only contains docks and fishing boats, but also restaurants overlooking the harbor, shops, and a fresh fish market. Rent a kayak or canoe to get a water side view of the harbor and sea lions. Or paddle a short distance up the Noyo River for a view of forested hillsides and birds.

Glass Beach

Over 30 years of pounding surf has smoothed and polished these colorful little nuggets. Find little treasures and explore tide pools. Located at the north end of Fort Bragg; turn right on Elm Street (at the Denny's).

Skunk Train

Enjoy a scenic train ride on the Skunk Train. Board in Fort Bragg to destinations including Northspur for BBQ dinner or Willits.

Located in Fort Bragg, a short distance south of Highway 20 (18220 N. Highway 1). For more information, visit the Gardens online.

Point Cabrillo Lighthouse

Established in 1909 as a navigation aid, the lighthouse contains a Third Order Fresnel lens which has been restored to operation. The surrounding 300 acres headlands is a preserve with walking trails and breathtaking views. The Lighthouse is open daily for tours 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. The headlands preserve is open daily until a half hour after sunset. Located south of the most beautiful camping area on the California Mendocino Coast, 3.5 miles south of Fort Bragg, turn right on Point Cabrillo Road, wind around the residential area, and turn right on Lighthouse Road.
